Volunteers Needed - Eastbourne Bike Routes Cleanup
SATURDAY APRIL 24TH
Volunteers are needed for Saturday, April 24th!! We are going to clean up the entire network of cycle routes in Eastbourne!! The routes have been divided up into segments for volunteers to take. Email Jeff: jeffygeipel@hotmail.com to sign up and segments will be assigned over the next week. Litter pickers and bags can be provided!
Eastbourne needs more bike lanes, but there are already some good routes that we can all use. Let's spiff them up and get more people on their bikes!

Ban plastic toys in Kinder Eggs
SIGN THIS PETITION !
Hi I’m Joey, I’m 7 years old. I have brought kinder eggs in the past and I really think the toy and plastic egg should be cut out. I love the chocolate but not the toy - They are fun for maybe a few minutes but then they end up in the bin or get lost very quickly and will end up in landfill or someplace bad.

Anglers National Recycling Scheme
HELP DEE HARMER'S PROJECT
We are currently in talks with Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme and Eastbourne Borough Council to get some fishing line and net recycling bins placed at certain locations along Eastbourne seafront. Quite a few towns have now adopted this initiative.
People who collect angling debris can place in the bins to go off to recycle rather than end up In landfill.
My company
Fish 2 Water - Sussex Open Water Swimming and Coaching
and our trainee lifeguards at
Eastbourne Voluntary Lifeguards
will collect and empty the contents ready for it to get sent off.
The bins cost £80 each and we are looking for sponsors for 2 as I will sponsor one. You will be able to advertise your business with a sticker.
Please get In touch If you would like more information.

Ban plastic toys on comics and magazines
SIGN THIS PETITION !
Hi, my name is Skye and I am 10 years old. I am very concerned by the amount of plastic that is still being produced, thrown away and polluting our oceans and environment. This is why I want the magazine and comic publishers to really care for the environment and STOP giving away plastic toys with their publications.

NHS - Covid Vaccination stickers
LETTER SENT TO NHS REPRESENTATIVE
I am writing to you about the stickers which you provide for people who have been given their vaccination (attachment is of a sheet of these stickers). I had my first vaccination a few days ago and, before I knew it, the vaccinator had put a sticker on me.
I asked her to keep it since I represent Plastic Free Eastbourne. We are campaigning in Eastbourne to rid our town of single-use plastics and these stickers are one bad example of this problem. I am sure that you are aware of the issues surrounding such items of single-use plastic for our Planet.
I ask: do our generation really want such a symbol of achievement? Also, children will not want them because they are learning that such items go against our campaign to save our Planet from global heating.
The thing is this: already, since over 11 million vaccinations have been given ~ which is a fantastic achievement ~ this means that over 11 million of these stickers have entered the environment. I assume that my own experience is not an exception.
I wonder how adaptable your organisation is: I am writing to you to ask you to please stop giving out these stickers immediately. 11 million of these already in the environment is a concern, I hope you will now readily agree.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
Best wishes,
Oliver Sterno
