There are 3 opportunities to join us for Free Creative Writing sessions. There is no need to attend all 3 events – you can attend 1,2 or 3 as you wish. You do not need to be an experienced writer and you don’t need to share your writing if you don’t want to. The sessions will be led by Sue Dixon of Plastic Free Eastbourne.
1. Studio at the Lake Tuesday, May 16th 1 pm ~ meet at Shinewater Lake
We will participate in a medium-length walk around part of the lake which will include varied
input from experts in Archaeology and Ecology. If you are not familiar with Shinewater Park:
it is a fascinating landscape as it is the site of a Bronze Age settlement Also, the lake is used for
fishing and you will see wildlife but we are also in close proximity to an urban environment.
The paths are well-surfaced and there are benches along the way. If you have mobility
issues, we can be flexible about the length of the walk.
After the walk there will be time for our Creative Writing, using the inspiration of our
surroundings. Please note this is not a taught session and is FREE.
2. Motcombe Gardens Thursday May 18th 11 am ~ meet by the pond
This will be a shorter event lasting an hour to an hour and a half. We will meet by the pond
and take our inspiration from our surroundings and other stimulus material which I will
provide. Motcombe Pond is the source of the Bourne Stream which played such an
important part in the development of the town. There will be an opportunity for us to share
our writing if we wish. In the event of wet weather, we will gather in a local café. There is
local parking. Please note this is not a taught session and is FREE.
3. Studio on the Beach Saturday 20th May 4.30 pm ~ meet at Holywell
This will take the form of several activities which will take place here and you are welcome
to sign up for any of them before your writing session or just focus on your writing.
There will be Arts Activities and Citizen Science with the Marine Conservation Society and
Strandliners. You can participate in these or watch what is going on.
It will be low tide at 4.30 pm and these events around us and the location will provide us
with plenty of inspiration for writing but I will also bring stimulus material.
